![]() Just Starting out. If you are starting out, i would reccomend a purpose built trainer which is controlled by a 3 or 4 function Radio (i.e. Throttle,Elevator, Rudder and/or Ailerons). A wingspan between 50 and 60 inches is typical, powered by a '30' ( 5.0 cc) to '40' (6.0 cc) size engine. These models are usually quite simple in appearance and easy to build or stick together, for the impatient among us. There are several excellent types of models, engines and radio control units available. A few important points to remember before parting with your or your bank managers cash. The radio control unit needs to be absolutely reliable. The model will need to be accurately built. The engine needs to run reliably ( and quietly! ). The little extras, glow plugs, propellers, screwdrivers batteries, fuel, crystals all need to be thought of. These are especially important if you are buying second hand equipment. You need to have appropriate insurance to cover model flying. This is provided by the Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland
